SDONS Elections, Candidates for Office, 2009-2010:   President-Elect and Treasurer

...from Anne Courtney, SDONS Nominating Chair...

It's election time again.  This month we are holding elections for 2 board positions.  We have 1 member running for president-elect and 2 members running for treasurer.  The treasurer position is a 2 year term while the president-elect position is a 1 year term.  Bios for the treasurer candidates are listed below.  Your November email blast included a ballot.  Please mark your choice for each position and return to sd_ons@yahoo.com no later than November 4th.  Ballots will be tallied on November 5 and winners will be announced at the November, 2009 dinner meeting

Brenda Hann, President-Elect

Maria Hawley: Treasurer
I graduated from Point Loma Nazarene University with my BSN in 2002. After graduating, I started working at Scripps Memorial La Jolla on the Medical/Oncology unit and have stayed on this unit for 7 years.  I truly enjoy working with and serving the Oncology patient population. During this time, I also obtained my MSN through San Diego State University and became OCN certified. I have assumed various roles on the Medical/Oncology unit including charge nurse and Interim Manager (while my manager was on maternity leave). I am currently a Supervisor on this unit. I have been an ONS member for about 3 years.  I am running for treasurer of ONS because I would like to be more involved with community organizations, specifically ONS.
Meloddie Neel: Treasurer
I am requesting to run for candidancy for Treasurer of the San Diego Chapter Oncology Nursing Society. I will have an opportunity to connect with other colleagues from across San Diego County and obtain the latest oncology information, and strengthen my professional career as an UCSD representative for one of the finest Oncology Chapters in Southern California. My goal is to participate in an environment of peer networking and collaborate with the finest Oncology Nurses about the chapters funds. I hope to maintain accurate monetary accounts by keeping funds in the GREEN and maintain good communication about the funds to chapter members.

As a clinical nurse III, I have given podium presentations, poster presentation, written publications, and active member in many committees and am currently working on a collaborative research funded project.
